Mothers Day here in Coolangatta - Surf Championship and Walking
/The weather is supposed to change with cooler conditions (back to 18 degrees and rainfall) so after breakfast we decided to go and do things such as shopping and walking.
Ken walked some 3km right around to Rainbow Bay where the Surf Championship was scheduled to conclude and the waves were in ther range of 6-9 feet. This event follows the Margaret River Event last weekend as part of the Australian events of the world Surf titles.
There were thousands of people and it is always interesting to watch the different styles and dress appearances.
Many , many younger people, no car parking for miles and the decision to walk was just so correct.
Ken watched for about an hour and there were contests every 30 minutes or so.
The amount of promotional gear and food and merchandise stores is quite surprising.
From there back for lunch and the weather looks quite threatening. But only light showers here.
You can see the darker skies. The showers persisted all afternoon.
Jeanette had gone to the Supermarket.
Following lunch we watched the Demons play the Saints and our Dees won convincingly by about 7 goals after an excellent first half and a tighter second half.
Then we had a family Messenger live chat with Chris and Oliver in Ringwood East and David who is holidaying in Singapore. It was nice to all catch up although Chris was very tired after a lengthy day with the Boys football then out to see Peita’s mother who recently had another minor heart procedure.
Finally dinner of Chicken, Salad and then ice cream for desserts and the end of another relaxing lovely day.
Tomorrow Ken is scheduled to play golf at Coolangatta Tweed, but the weather remains a threat, we will see.
