Oceania Sirena Arrival in Portsmouth. Following Breakfast we depart, pick up our Car and Drive to Bath
We arrive in Portsmouth at about 6.30 am, we are still asleep but Ken wakes as he hears the workers. We are pleased to see it is another pleasant sunny day. Our Weather has been quite exceptional, we are as ever delighted with everything Oceania offers
We visit the Main dining room with its wonderful chandeliers , enjoy breakfast. Say goodbye to several people. We hope we will stay in touch with some. It has been an enjoyable relaxing and interesting trip.
There is a slight depay in the departure from the ship because the luggage was slower in being taken from the ship to the area through immigration.
We complete our immigration formalities inside 15 minutes and are on the terminal ground floor inside another 10 minutes. We locate our luggage. Oceania lets some 50-100 people off the ship each 30 minutes. so at 9.15 there are about 40 people in our group, which makes things easy. We have a 15 minute drive to the
We walk out with our cases, find a London Cab with no waiting, takes 10 minutes in the cab at cost of 14.50 pound. We are second in line for our Rental vehicle at Europcar . We have a small a Yaris automatic. Complete all paperwork inside 15 minutes. Depart at 9.40am for the 2 hour drive to Bath.
Sounded easy particularly with GPS, but so many roads are impacted by ceremonies and issues with the Queens’s Royal funeral etc, that it takes us some time longer.
We stop for lunch at The Angell Inn at Warminster-Heytesbury at 12.15 pm and enjoy a lovely lunch.
It is then a 45 minute drive, following lunch into Bath, although we encounter long waits with roadworks ( so unusual) . We check into the Doubletree Bath which is above a Supermarket and then struggle to find a Carp apark in that area. We eventally park overnight and for the next day in the Supermarket Car park and move the car the next day.
We decide to eat in that night after Ken has been out for a 2 hour walk. Jeanette has a rest ,but is felling fine although has trouble with a knee.
The little car works well, is easy to drive and is comfortable. The Doubletree is very comfortable in a great location in Bath, which is just a wonderful town.
