Visit to the Rainbow Lorikeets and Check in to the Sebel Hotel Coolangatta
We checked out of the Langham Hotel at 12.15pm and drove toward Coolangatta through the major roadworks and eventually decided to have lunch in the perk near Coolangatta Surf Beach on a near perfect day with little wind and temperatures of 25-27 degrees.
Jeanette had prepared Sandwiches and we had a soft drink and Ken took some further photos.
We jumped in the car and sought to check in early at the Sebel Coolangatta. Fortunately, the room was cleaned and we were able to check in at 2.45pm and then we unpacked what was necessary.
Following this we made the short drive to be at the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary to be participants in the feeding of the hundreds of Lorikeets who fly in for the feeding at 4.00pm. It is spectacular to see these beautiful birds and to feed them from the silver metal plates the liquid syrup which they love.
On this occasion Ken takes photos and Jeanette hold the tray. They arrive on schedule and we have a great 35 minutes. They then fly off to the large Pines in Coolangatta and others in closer proximity where they sleep the night.
It is simply an amazing experience. We have done it several times.
Our holiday has come to an end with a good flight on Jetstar to Melbourne, whilst a little early at 7.15am departure after we had handed back the VW Rental from Sixt , it all worked well.
We landed in Melbourne at 9.22am after being held up by Air Traffic control in Melbourne. The weather was cool with a mild south west breeze. No rain.
Gavin has arranged for another driver to pick us up , by name of Adam driving a Jaguar and we are home in Wheelers Hill and unpacked by 11.25am.
The holiday has been enjoyable and we loved the warmth. Our accommodations were excellent with the 2 timeshare weeks at the Beach house and The Beachcomber in Coolangatta being first class.
A highlight was the 3 night and 4 day stay at the Langham Hotel and Residences in Broadbeach. Our residence #2503 was simply superb. A fully fitted apartment of one bedroom and exceptional views over the Pacific Ocean.
We enjoyed our time at Sofitel Surfers Paradise for the one night upon arrival and similarly the Sebel at Coolangatta was a fine means of arranging to be at the airport at 6.00am. That is too early.
Our use of memberships at Coolangatta SLSC club , Twin towns and RACV Gold Coast was opportune and all worked well.
The golf at Coolangatta Tweed and at Royal Pines Resort was excellent and taking the golf clubs proved a good decision.
All in all an excellent 22 days holiday in a beautiful part of the world.
