Our Short / Overnight stay at Shangri- La Rasa Sayang , Penang Malaysia.

This was a short and disappointing overnight stay at this beautiful Shangri-La Resort in Penang.

The trip was delayed through the shambolic delays experienced with Air Asia flight from Ho Chi Minh International Airport which was scheduled to depart at 12.30pm and arrive at approximately 3.45pm after the flight of approximately 1 hour 25 minutes and the time change of 1 hour.

The flight was delayed through weather and then a technical issue. We were then bussed to the other end of the airport only to sit on the plane on the tarmac for another hour. We had planned to arrive in Penang and expected the drive to the resort to take from 40 minutes to an hour. however, we were on the road at peak time, and it took almost two hours to reach the resort in terrible peak hour traffic jams. When we finally arrived we were advised that there was now no evening meal as restaurants were closed.

So we checked in feeling this was a wasted trip as a consequence of the delayed flight. We had an early pick up tomorrow for our flight to Lankawi from Penang.

The room and hotel is simply stunning. We unpack as little as possible for overnight and leave the rest of the cases ready for a quick departure.

We packed and then had an enjoyable breakfast, had our luggage picked up at 9.15am and our driver arrived at 9.25pm and we departed for Penang International Airport to make the short flight to Langkawi.

We travelled on the main road past the multitude of high rise apartments. It was a much quicker trip of 40-45 minutes. We checked in very quickly and passed through customs and Immigration without any delay.

Our trip has been so straightforward that we had almost 2 hours to await our boarding schedule for the3 flight to Langkawi.
