Covid -19 our Story April 2022
Covid -19 Virus!
After fortunately escaping contact with the virus for all of 2020 and 2021. Here we are in April 2022 having tested positive.
We have despite our best efforts contracted covid-19 some 2-3 weeks before we head off to the Gold Coast, Queensland for a month in the sun.
Ken returned from Free Spirit choir rehearsal all fine and attended a funeral on the Thursday. He came home was fine and was keen to play golf at Kew golf club on the Friday morning. He was still well, but decided to do a RA test early on the Friday morning. Negative result and enjoyed golf with Tony, John and Brendan.
He returned home and was well, but awoke with a tickle in the throat. Tested with RA on Saturday morning showed negative, went across to Wantirna South and did PCR test on Saturday morning, which came back positive at 3.00am on Sunday morning.
So quarantined in isolation for 7 days and supervised by daily follow up from Monash Health and Waverley Care with daily survey/ questionnaire and a call every day.
Jeanette tested positive on the Monday after being tested on Sunday morning. Again very mild symptoms with sore throat, cold symptoms etc.
On the Tuesday we received a gadget to measure BP and other things and a link to follow up each day. Have received excellent care and follow up from Waverley and Monash Health. Then on 29th April received my full clearance to return to normal. Then Jeanette received same on 1st May 2022 so we are both free.
We have been very fortunate having had very mild symptoms like a mild cold, so the vaccines have worked.
Spoke to our doctor and we will have our 4th jab in early June being another booster together with the flu jab.
Of course we are immune for between 1 and 3 months after having had the Covid virus.
These were worrying times but we have recovered well with mild after affects of a cold.
It appears that these are expected to last 2-3 weeks.
We sense that we have been fortunate. We also realise how this virus and its situation had passed through our community and across the world. We have been particularly diligent, have no idea where we picked it up, but also appreciate even more the wonderful primary health care services that we so often take for granted..
An understanding that we need to be careful going forward.
