Our Departure from Marriott Fairways Resort NJ, our long and challenging Drive to JFK, New Your and our flight to Reykjavik Iceland.

We had an early alarm and wake up at 5.30am on Saturday and finished packing and loading the Car. The GPS Go 20 had the addressed loaded and we departed at 6.35am and had a drive of almost 2 hours and 20 minutes along mostly freeways. The weather was inclined to showers. But we were pleased that it was a pretty good day for travel and the drive for the fist 80 minutes was relatively easy. It became somewhat more challenging as we had to take alternate freeways to skirt around New York City, including across. Bridges and around the freeway to Statton Island. however despite some really squalls and heavy rainfall, we managed to make it to the Bay arena and had 15 miles to traverse.

It turns out that our dollar parking return was to the Hertz return and all worked well. We challenged the fees and feedback suggested that most was our additional expense. We unloaded our cases, and packed then to make our way across from Hertz to the Airport Rail Station where we had to take our luggage 3-4 stations on the Rail to Terminal 7 at JFK. This worked well. By 8.35am we had unloaded the car, signed the receipt and travelled by the Train to Terminal 7, where Iceland Air departs from our flight is now scheduled to depart fro Iceland at a revised time of 13.35pm.

This means that we have to wait for Check in scheduled for 10.00am, we sit in an adjacent lounge area near other check in points. Our Iceland air does open at 10.00am and we are second to check in to first class and have seats 2D and 2F. All goes well and we are throughcheck in by 10.10am with boarding not scheduled to commence until 12.35pm. We have a lengthy wait but are allowed into the Horizons Lounge which services Iceland air, and we enjoy a late breakfast.

Our boarding commences at 12.38pm and we are able to board and take our seats. It is a full flight and they are keen to have first seated quickly prior to the other classes been able to board. The flight on our 737 Max departs on schedule and we are well settled and then await lunch.

It is a very comfortable flight.

We slept well but the room was just too hot. We woke at 7.15am then showered and went to breakfast at about 8.15am. It was a quality buffet breakfast with a good range of food, hot coffee and fresh fruit juice.

We decided to delay departing and going walkabouts until about 11.00am as we were made aware that Icelanders can be a little slow on a Sunday. Jeanette updated her Facebook and we then watched some of the Wimbledon final with the young Spanish Star Alcaras being too good for Djokovic ( a repeat of last year’s final.

Our journey outside exposed us to the drizzle and cold wind coming from the Arctic Sea. We walked for about 2km and took photos, then went and purchased rolls and a bottle of coke for lunch.
