Well it is midweek and the weather remains changeable. After a long walk and shopping on Tuesday in the afternoon Ken played golf at Coolangatta Tweed golf Course on the River course. The West Course is closed to carts but ids being used by the men’s competition with everyone walking . But it remains very wet and most were unhappy.
The Course is wet with large areas roped off as the course is being cut up by golf Carts in several places. Played with 3 other men, two locals and another from the Sunshine Coast who was visiting friends. There were two off 8 and 11 and the third was off 22. So we had a very enjoyable afternoon finishing in 3 hours and 45 minutes. Then a couple of drinks.
Ken played very well with a score of 89 off the stick and was second in the group. The best player who was off 8 played to 6 and was a lovely player. I played good solid golf, no bunkers until the last but got out well.
The Highlight was a near ace of the 3rd hole when I hit a rescuer and the shot hit the bottom of the pin and deflected away to about 9 feet. There was great excitement in the group.
We played for coffees ( as we do at Kew with my group). The people were all complaining as to the weather which hasn’t;t changed for 3 weeks although the incessant heavy rain has disappeared. There are still showers and drizzle. Some photos are attached.
By the time of departing the golf Club it was getting dark and rain was again threatening. Back to Coolangatta and the Beachcomber International Resort for a shower and change and then off to dinner at the Chinese Restaurant at the Twin Towns Resort. Really enjoyed a meal with a couple of dishes together with Fried rice and some starters as a a combination of of bits and pieces.
When we arrived at about 6.00pm it was relatively quiet , but that quickly changed and the restaurant was over 3/4 full by the time we departed at 7.15pm. We usually have this meal in the last week and it seems to have come around quickly.
We woke Wednesday to a much brighter day with clouds making way to a clear sunny day.
A day at this resort and doing some walking. Nothing else planned. Mid morning Ken walked all the way to Rainbow Bay SLSC and it was very pleasant and he met up with a KEW GC member holidaying in that area for another 4 weeks making a total of 6 weeks. They talked and both agreed that after the rain of last weekend most of the courses should have been closed. They are just too wet.
Following lunch Ken again walked but this time all the way to Kirra and the Coolangatta Wreck memorial. Then stopped at Kirra SLSC for a beer before making his way back. during this time the weather has become overcast. There are showers again predicted for tomorrow.
He als stopped at Nirvana resort for a card and a query as to whether they do rental hirings. This is a superb property.
Jeanette has also been for a walk across to a clothes shop and is considering purchasing some items for our forthcoming European holiday.
All in all the last 2 days have been very relaxing. Also doing the washing etc today. Ken will also clean his Golf clubs.
Thursday we are relaxing, walking after some grocery shopping. Ken was to play golf at wither Robina or Carrara at Royal Pines, but has decided to delay until next week due to the wet conditions.
Then on Friday we depart Coolangatta after 2 weeks and travel back to the Gold Coast and Surfers Paradise where we have a week booked.
As usual these two weeks at Coolangatta have been just idyllic in terms of relaxing and holidaying, although this has been the wettest that we have ever experienced in Queensland or the Gold Coast. The Rental vehicle is a small Suzuki with only 3,500km on the clock and is a pleasure to drive.
