Our Transfer from Consulate Hotel to Oceania Sirena 17th July 2024
We have enjoyed our several days in the Capital of Iceland and the weather improved from the lashing storm upon our arrival to the warmth of the sun and perfect clear blue skies as we enjoyed the scenic golden circle tour.
We have enjoyed excellent restaurant food, walked throughout the city and generally relaxed and took in the new environs of Reykjavik.
We arranged to depart the Hotel Consulate late on the morning of our cruise and visited the famed Hallgrimskirkja church or cathedral with its unique and stunning architecture. Our driver stops and Jeanette remains in the Car as Ken visits the church and takes photos.
It is quite simply stunning. The weather has cooled a little but we have a lovely day to board Sirena.
The boarding process is well organised and we are quickly processed through security, then to the Suites entrance.
The ship is lovely, the wind is cool as we cross from the building though to the ship.
We are greeted and photos taken for security. We are informed our suite will not be available until after we enjoy a luncheon in the Terrace Restaurant. Correctly it is almost empty apart from other Suite passengers. We choose a window seat and celebrate pour cruise with a Champagne and a cold buffet salad served for us.
At 1.00pm, we are advised that our suite is available and that our luggage will be deliver in the next 30 minutes.
We make our way and are greeted by our room Steward. The colour Scheme of the suite is in the new pastel colours. Jeanette receives her care and proceeds to unpack. Inside 45 minutes we are unpacked and well settled. We then have Ken’s gear arrive and this is finished within the next 30 minutes. A good start, everything is as we expect with Oceania.
We have an afternoon Safety presentation.
We have all of our luggage, we have enjoyed the beauty of the City of Reykjavik with its reputation and history of culture, historical events and natural beauty. The ship departs at 5.00pm and we have enjoyed the string quartet. We have a drink in the lounge prior to dinner.
The show this evening is very much an introduction and explanation of the Cruise, discussion as to the challenges of Iceland and Greenland, introduction of the 2 guest speakers and then some singing and dancing.
