Arrival at Gold Coast and Accommodation at Sofitel Hotel
We enjoyed can excellent flight with Jetstar with boarding on time and departure ahead of schedule for four almost 2 hour flight from Melbourne to the Gold Coast ( Coolangatta Airport).
Luggage arrived and we then went to Sixt Car Rental to complete our booking and pick up the car.
That all worked really well.
The Car was in the adjoins Car Park Area beside the terminal in row C -16. It is a lovely VW SUV and very comfortable.
We drive the supposed 25 minutes in over an hour due to extensive roadworks along the entire routs.
Check in at Sofitel is quick. Our Superior Suite is 803 and is excellently fitted out . The Hotel location (as Ken found out next morning is just first class in the centre of the precinct some 250 metres to the SurfBeach and about 100 metres to the Tram stop.
We sleep well in a very comfortable bed. Ken goes out and brings back some items for breakfast.
We request and are afforded a later check out of 12.00pm and decide to then go to The coolangatta Surf club for lunch. It turns out to be a wise decision.
A long walk to Kirra Beach along the Boardwalk and pass by the Kirra SLSC .
Then walked along the beach and by the several new high rise buildings which all over look the beautiful beach.
Jeanette has just returned from the Surf Club and I will prepare to depart in about an hour to go to the football.
