Visit to Disneyworld, Florida and Epcot.
We purchased tickets appreciating the hot and humid weather and departed with a 10.15am pick up by the “Red Bus” to commence our day at Epcot. It was 92 F Degrees with high humidity, but we were excited to once again visit the wonderful Disney Parks. However, wisely we arranged to be picked up for the return to our Resort at 5.15pm. A wise decision and we were grateful.
The place was busy, but we were advised it was a slower day and fortunately that meant that our waiting time was shorter than usual. The longest wait we had was 55 minutes to see the Soaring exhibit. It was simply amazing and was well worth the wait and we reflected on this particular ride from previous visits. We are indeed very fortunate this is our 4th visit to Disney world.
We are dropped off at Magic Kingdom Transportation Centre and catch the Disney Monorial around to Epcot, taking 5-7 minutes after waiting at the station approximately 10 minutes. There was indeed a sense of excitement in our compartment on the monorial with several guests all dressed up in Disney Gear including T-shits, Mickey ears and all sorts of paraphernalia.
We exited the train walked some 40 metres across to the Ticket entry, where we used our passes to be converted to plastic tickets.
Then it was off into the park passed the Big golf Ball and to Imaginations. This has often been our first display. Imagination reflects the imagination as to technology and changes all with a musical theme. you tour the exhibit in cars on a track and at several points the cars turn 90 Dgreescto watch a presentation of highlight. all good fun. The wait here was something like 20 minutes.
From here we walk around in circles until we find the Soaring Ride . this is one of the signature events with a longer waiting time of 55 minutes. It involved boarding like a glider which then flies across all of the major signposts and places of the world, probably integrating drone flyovers from each city and site into one longer version .
This is aqn exciting and memorable ride throughout the world. It lasts about 10 minutes. Quite extraordinary.
We then find Awesome Planet which is a ride covering the earth and is wonders, showing the important qualities and amazing spots of earth via an extended short film. We enjoy the 15 minutes and here there was only a wait of 15 minutes.
We also find Land , which is a boat ride through the many different typers of environment depicting the wonders of planet earth and then subsequently transforming this trough major agricultural changes evolving to enhance the productivity of our global agricultural industries for the 22nd and 23rd centuries.
From here we decide to have some lunch, consisting of a Beef roll and a cool 7 up drink. We relax for almost 40 minutes after beginning to feel the extreme heat and humidity as well as the hard constant long walking.
After our break, we then go to the “Space” part of the buildings and we decide to do the Training programme for Astronauts. It is a ride in a simulator taking us to the International Space Station. This was really an experience with real “G” forces, some rough and bumpy landings and some failures. But we amazingly passed with flying colours and are now fully qualified “Epcot Astronauts”. It was a surprise, not sure Jeanette really enjoyed it. But Ken did.
Following this time we went seeking a place to sit out of the heat.
At this time Ken walked and caught the boat around the International sites around the beautiful lake area. He catches the boat for a 20 minute rides, whilst Jeanette sits under a shaded tree with a slight breeze.
Ken enjoys the boat ride , takes some photos. The Area around the Lake is also the international shops and restaurants which at night a prime viewing sites for the Epcot fireworks. We have done several tours of these varied countries and their restaurants on prior visits. The temperature is 93F and humidity is in high 80’s. Quite unbearable outside for any length of time.
Following these activities, we agree that it is just too hot to do more walking, we seek a seating area out of the sun and where we may experience some imapct from air conditioning. Jeanette finds a space/ corridor between two Connexion restaurants and we find this great. We still have 90 minutes until our Red Bus Returns to the Magic Kingdom Transportation Hub to take us back to Shadow Bay Resort.
So we then transfer back to Magic Kingdom Transportation Hub and wait for the arrival of our “Red Bus” to pick us up and return us to our Resort. Many people are departing and the heat remains oppressive but the next concerns appear to be the heavy winds and tropical thunder storms approaching.
Our Bus arrives at 5.10pm and departs on schedule at 5.15pm , but there is another surprise as the return trip is scheduled to take 60-70 minutes (rather than the 30 upon our arrival mid morning) because we drop off st 6-8 other hotels and resorts before we get to ours. We do run through one heavy storm ,but escape the worst and we are dropped off at 6.15pm , not too bad given the heavy traffic.
It has been a hard but enjoyable day .
Jeanette prepares a meal of pasta followed by apple pie and Ken enjoys a glass of wine from Napa.
Ken showers and is in bed by 8.30pm . A long hard day. We (the oldies) have done it, but very hard.
Our day at Epcot has been terrific but oh so tiring. Tomorrow is a day around our resort.
