Tour of Hamburg and Transfer to Station.

Elsewhere we have advised the departure from Sirena.

We were met by our Guide and Driver who spoke fluent English.

We had planned to do a expanded tour through the Old Town area of Hamburg directly from the port area. There are several Cruise terminals but ours gave us a short drive to the Old Town. Simply breathtaking architecture and much is being preserved and restored.

Then across the River we come to a completely new area of High Rise Buildings more typical of the Glass towers we now see in many parts of the world. This is the business and new international hotel area. It can be equated to our Docklands area in Melbourne.

Beside this newer area we find a complete new suburban area of apartments of medium density high rise and similar buildings , which is the home to the younger business generation. Similar trends are seen throughout the world in cities undergoing refurbishment.

Then we come to the Areas spawning the New Technology parks where IT and AI organisations are being established.

We then decide to have a coffee and a cake beside a lake at a Cafe and restaurant complex. We have plenty of time before we proceed to the station arriving at 11.10am. We have to check our tickets and then make our way to the platform by 11.20am. Our train , the ICE Express arrives on time, we are near the correct coach door, we receive assistance to lift our luggage onto the train and then store it. A sense of relief overtakes us. The people have been wonderful , we are told by several young men that the cases are too heavy for us!!!.

We can now relax and enjoy the train and the beuatiful scenery.
