Our First Day in New Jersey at Marriott Fairways Resort.
Following our long and tiring day of travel from Savannah, Georgia via flights to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania we had checked in and then decided to eat in and have an early night after a shower. Jeanette was in bed at 9.15pm and Ken followed after watching some of the PGS John Deer Open.
We slept well woke at about 7.15am enjoyed breakfast then showered changed and considered the range of activities. Ken went to the Reception and Concierge area ( as per the above photo) and we plan to undertake the following :
Atlantic city, New Jersey tomorrow (Tuesday)
Drive to a parking area and catch bus into New York for the Day and ride the Hop hop on Hop off Bus and stop at a couple of places.
Thursday morning to our selves and Lunch with Peter and Wendy.
Friday complete cleaning and washing and pack for an early rise on the Saturday.
Saturday drive to Iceland with Icelandair then transfer to the Hotel.
We went for a long walk through the Resort grounds and the various pools and of particular interest was the large bucket that fills up and then tips over and “drowns” the many children awaiting underneath. There is a video attached.
Following lunch after an extensive walk around this property, we went shopping to finalise our food and groceries for the week.
Ken then went driving through several residential areas and took photos. It is surprising that the housing estates are probably some 500-800 metres of the main N9 North road. He enjoyed the process and the visit to Dolce Seaview Resort was also worthwhile although he cannot fit Golf into our schedule.
The resort serves up 2 18 hole Championship courses . The Pines is a beautiful course carved through beautiful Pine Forrests and was designed by the acclaimed Toomey and Flynn. That adjoins this resort. It also hosts the LPGA ShopRite classic . It is just beautiful.
The other course is across the road and is more of a Links course The Bay Course was designed by Donald Ross. Unfortunately, they only take booking for non members where there are 2 or 4 people playing. . This is an open Course with varied grasses and open holes with difficult angles and varying degrees of risk. A tough Links environment.
After this Ken also drove and took a range of photos.
An enjoyable day ahead of 3 long days. Disappointed that I couldn’t get a game on Thursday and Fridays is closed to the Public and only available to members of Seaview golf.
Dinner tonight in with a Salad and several meats and then ice-cream amd apple pie.
We are very pleased.
