A quiet day with walk along the Coolangatta foreshore and morning tea at the surf club.

We woke to another perfect morning and Jeanette said this is the life for her. We sat in the morning sun enjoying breakfast, then did a load of washing, Ken booked golf for tomorrow at Royal Pines Golf Club at RACV club resort.

Then we enjoyed a walk along the beach and foreshore for 35 minutes, then had morning tea of coffee and chocolate brownie .

unfortunately, Ken has broken one of the nose supports on his glasses, so with no optometrist here at Coolangatta we will visit the Tweed centre this afternoon to have it replaced.

Dinner in tonight. Later this afternoon Ken is walking around the beach to Rainbow Bay. Had a terrific walk in perfect 22 degrees Celsius temperature.

We are already looking to book either here or Beach House for next July / August. It is fantastic to feel the warmth of the sun and certainly no pressure. The lifestyle is so much slower and relaxed.

Our visit to Broadbeach Surfers Paradise and lunch with Ray and Phylis Knight

We woke to a perfect morning, without a breathe of wind and blue cloudless sky.

Following breakfast in the sun, Ken walked to Kirra, approximately 35 minutes there and back at a good pace. He commented that his knees and ankle feel as good as they have.

Jeanette went to Aldi for some groceries, we then changed and left to drive to Broadbeach, Surfers Paradise about a 30 minute drive to visit Phylis and Ray Knight At their unit for lunch and a catch up. It is approx 30 years since we have seen them when we were both at NAB in Sydney as General Managers. But we have remained in touch via Facebook. We all enjoy travel, cruising and are customers of Tauck.

We greeted them after a phone call to Ray. Then parked the car, went to their beautiful unit on level 14. With superb views over the water it is an ideal location.. They purchased the unit in 1995 and visit several times per year.

Following a tour of the unit we went downstairs to take in the magnificent beach views from Surfers Paradise right around to Coolangatta .

Ray commented on the high rise properties being constructed across the road from them which obscures some of their view of the ocean, but in time he is of the view that they may expand and acquire their tower.

We took photos, then enjoyed a celebratory glass of champagne and talked at length as to what we have done over the years. Ray advised that he has been Chairman of Heart, NSW for over 20 years and received his OAM for that service. We talked of our time in UK, the progress of our families and grand children.

Phylis served a superb lunch of prawns and salads complemented by our white wine, we talked like magpies and had a lovely afternoon .

The time passed so quickly, it was good to renew acquaintances and catch up. We departed at 4.30pm, having enjoyed a terrific afternoin and drove back to Coolangatta .

Dinner was just a light salad.

A fantastic day in every way.

The Perfect day for Golf at Royal Pines

Yesterday was a perfect morning for walk along the boardwalk prior to Ken departing for golf at Royal Pines Golf Course at RACV Resort.

The weather was perfect 23 degrees Celsius with no wind. Played with a good golfer from Pymble, who had 80 off the stick with a 6 handicap.

Ken had 92 and that was 41 points (stableford). He came home very pleased with himself

Jeanette shopped visited the club and relaxed with an afternoon nap. The relaxing holiday is doing us good. We changed for steak night dinner at Coolangatta Surf Club.

Weather Wednesday is forecast to change with clouds, before warming up on Thursday and Friday. After a good night’s sleep we awoke to a gray morning. We depart here at 10.45am and drive to Surfers Paradise for Ray and Phylis night. We are excited as it is some 25 years since we got together. They now follow us on Facebook
