Move from The Beach House to the Beachcomber Resort, Coolangatta.

The week in The Beach House at Coolangatta has passed very quickly and has been a real relaxing holiday. We have eaten well, been thoroughly relaxed and for Jeanette it is a break from her usual regimen around the house.

We pack on Friday morning and it all goes well. Ken takes the large case and his sleep machine down to the Car (our VW touring) and then comes back to grab the back pack and groceries.

Our move is a little complicated as we check out at 10.00am and usually cannot checkin to the next resort to 3 or 4 o’clock. So there is a significant period of time to fill. We check out at 10.00am and then drive to Rainbow Bay and sit and watch the surfers enjoying the unusually high sea and waves.

We then decide to have morning tea at the Coolangatta Surf Club and sit by the open windows and take in the surf. We then decide to walk along the forecourt and have our sandwiches and buns and share a drink.

Jeanette then suggests that we try to check in earlier then scheduled. We go to the Resort and Jeanette approached reception and is advised that they were aware that we were transferring from their “Sister Resort” the Beach House and they had anticipated that we may want or hope to check in earlier than the “allowed” time of 4.00pm.

We are delighted that our Unit (6B) is available for us to check in at 2.15pm.

We drive to the basement access through the security gateway and park and then take all of our gear apart from Karen’s golf clubs up to our Unit. We unpack together and are finished by 3.20pm and then visit Woolies Supermarket to purchase our breakfast gear with ther intention of then doing a larger shop on Saturday morning.

All goes well and we are back in our Unit by 4.15pm. We decide to dine at the Surf club and anticipate a large frown so intend to leave here at 5.20pm and be in the restaurant area before 5.30pm. That proves to be an unwise decision as when we arrive there is a queue of 10-12 people and the who dining arewa of say 350-400 people is full to overflowing. What is done is done, so we do order and there is a 40-50 minute waiting time for meals. We have a drink and enjoy, purchase some raffle tickets which are of no use and totally unsuccessful.

The whole place is abuzz with noise and excitement. Many people check in today and have just arrived in Queensland and the Gold Coast..

We enjoy our meals and then return to our Unit and watch Television including an AFL match from Adelaide Oval being Adelaide vs Essendon which results in a narrow controversial Bomber win and an outrageous Umpiring decision with 10 seconds remaining. The missed or didn’t pay a clear holding the Ball decision in favour of Adelaide. Controversially the commentators were highly critical and subsequently on Saturday morning the AFL confirmed that it was technically incorrect and the free kick should have been paid and the resultant goal would have resulted in an Adelaide Goal and a win to the Crows. Just another example where incorrect asnd poor AFL umpiring is influencing results.

Our bed is extremely comfortable and we both sleep well, waking at 7.35am . the weather is scheduled to change with rainfall predicted on Saturday afternoon and more heavy rain on Sunday.

We complete breakfast and then visit Woolworths complete our shopping for food for most of this week.

Then drive back through the main shopping precinct and arrive back at the Beachcomber Resort at 10.45 , have morning tea and Ken decides to update this blog and web-page.

Jeanette reads and we have a relaxing morning. The weather has changed although temperature remains at 24-26 Degrees Celsius.
