Depart from Cape Grace Hotel, Cape Town and Flight Challenges to The Motse , Kilahari Desert
We had packed last evening and enjoyed breakfast before collecting our luggage which had been brought down earlier.
Our flight was booked through Go2Africa and our driver arrived at 7.45am for an 8.00am departure.
The stay in this beautiful world famous hotel has been idyllic in the Deluxe suite.
Our drive to the airport is uneventful until we reach, what our driver believes, is the airline. He enters the car part at 8.25am of Signature Flights, deposits our luggage but there is no one in reception. He then departs and wishes us well.
We believe our flight is scheduled for 12.00pm, and are curious as to the early arrival. Subsequently we are informed that there are no flights today from Cape Town to Tswalu by Signature. We are eventually assisted by a staff member, who quickly identifies that we are at the wrong air company.
He then rings around several other companies and identifies that we are flying with EcoJets and confirms the flight time of 12.00pm.
He offers to drive us to their premises which are about 1 mile further along this road, but away from the Cape Town Internationaks domestic and international terminals. He loads our luggage into the van, drives us to the new location, then unloads, brings the luggage to the door and then departs.
There is one. Staff member on site awaiting a 10.30am arrival , confirms our time and destination, is quite unhappy that we are there prior to the earliest scheduled time of 11,00am for passenger arrivals for our flight.
We sit quietly, aware that he is unhappy with us and the world.
The pilots arrive at 11.15am and we are checked in and board our flight at 11.50am with a 12.02pm departure. There is one other passenger a staff member returning to Tswalu, after his 2 week break.
We are in a small 8 seater plane, very comfortable.
We sit and receive a snack.
Our flight is 2 hours in duration and quite comfortable with little turbulence until we are close to landing.
We are met by a guide at the Airport reception area, we check and verify our luggage and informed we have a 20 minute drive to The Motse at Tswalu. We enjoy the ride in the land cruiser and arrive at 2.30pm.
The introduction includes an advice that our guide will meet us at 5.00pm in reception for our first gam,e drive.
The resort is simply stunning and our villa in just luxuriously fitted out with every detail just superbly finished.
Subsequently, Ken communicates with Go2Africa our travel agency who apologise for the extended early arrival. But everything else has just worked wonderfully.
Attached are several photos of the plane and lounge as well as our initial arrival at Tswalu, Kalahari. We look forward to many wonderful and remarkable memories from the next 4 days at this magical land.
