AFL Gold Coast Suns Vs West Coast Eagles and dinner at The Langham.
We woke after sleeping well in our comfortable bed and the weather is changeable.
We enjoyed breakfast at the Langham Hotel and then returned to our Suite. Ken then walked down to the Beach here at Surfers Paradise and walked along the beach. However, the weather forecast is for changeable weather with gusty winds and heavy but isolated showers.
Ken departs for the AFL at Carrara to watch Gold Coast Suns play the West Australian Eagles and expects to see the improving Suns triumph over the West Coast Eagles. The Oval is just perfect , there is crowd of several thousand people. And Ken parks in Blue Parking over the main road.
He arrives at the ground at 12.30 pm and ther match is scheduled to commence at 13.00pm. There is the pre match military pageantry for Anzac Day and everyone takes party and you you can here a pin drop.
The Match starts at a frenetic pace and within the first 10 minutes WestvCoast has secured an 18 point margin through three early scoring opportunities being converted into goals. It has taken Gold Coast almost 15 minutes to settle and from here they dominate the rest of the quarter.
The second quarter is much the same with the Gold Coast controlling the match but committing terrible turnovers that lead to West coast goals.. Thrre is a 3 point margin in favour of Gold Coast at Half time but you sense that they should have been further involved.
They dominate the third quarter kicking 5 or 6 goals to. Open up a sizeable margin.
Then a severe changes comes across the ground with heavy rainfall and winds of 50-60 miles an hour supporting the direction of West coast, they kick a couple of goals before the Gold Cpoast suns steady and run out eventual winners by 6 or 7 goals.
There is a storm around 3/4 quarter time with lashings of rainfall and heavy squalls of hail.
Ken made his way out with a small umbrellla and managed to get into his car in the Blue Carpark over the Nerang / Broadbeach road. The weather was dramatically changed but fortunately he made the car. It took 25 minutes to return to the Langham.
The photos attached below reflect the day.
Ken had dropped Jeanette off at Star and then drove to the ground and parked in the “Blue Carpark” at a cost of $25. Then walked across thev main Nerang Broadbeach road to the Stadium and he took his umbrella given the likely rainfall as predicted.
Sitting in the sun was hot but fortunately cloud cover arrived with clouds at about half time.
The Weather turned a little nasty during the third quarter and Ken prepared to depart at 3/4 time, but a heavy rain storm arrived just prior. He waited for it to pass and left at 12 minutes into the final quarter then got to the car before the next heavy shower and then made his way back to the Langham Hotel.
We enjoyed a cold drink.
Our dinner at the Langham was very good and the restaurant was quieter as the weekend guests had all departed.
Our time here at The Langham is close to ending after a very enjoyable 3 nights and 4 days.
The Suite has been excellent in every way. A terrific and enjoyable stay in superb accommodation.
