Sailing Through Doubtful and Dusty Sounds in Fjordland New Zealand

After the spectacular imagery if Milford Sound we settle back to see the different but still spectacular Doubtful and Dusty Sounds.

We have a sail along the coast of the South Island of New Zealand before we swing east to enter the remarkably different entrance to the Sounds.

The weather has improved spectacularly and we have an afternoon of gleaming sunshine.

This is also our third visit to the Sounds and whilst on prior occasions there were some doubts, this is almost near perfect and we see the wonders of Nature as we slowly traverse the sound with spectacular inlets, a diversity of foliage, plants, and abundant birdlife. In Milford Sound, it was windy and bitter and we saw little birdlife, here there is an explosion of life and all types of birds can be seen.

We enjoy outstanding commentary from the guide. He is also excited and enthusiastic to see the day, the weather the colours, and the birds. Simply amazing.

This has been a diverse day of sailing through amazing natural heritage areas. We also appreciate the ability of the ship to enter and closely parallel the coast. and the shores of the Sounds.

Each Sound is strikingly different. We feel privileged to be able to partake in the travel and the commentary which explains in detail and sympathetically explores these unique areas.
