This is the altenate port for Amsterdam is about 30 minutes from Amsterdam which we will now visit following a shuttle into the city.
Ijmuiden is a popular industial port annd many consider it the gateway to Amsterdam for freight as it connects the North Sea to the Ij Bay.
It is alo close to other cities and towns such as Haarlem and Zandvoort. Zuid Kennenmerland offers travelers a huge National Park and Zandvoort is a popular beach destination.
As the capital to the Netherlands , Amsterdam in a bustling international town with thousands of cyclists and with its waterways and canals and colured houses is a wonderful city to explore. there are many pedestrian thoroughfares and bike paths and the Information Centre is in the middle of the city. We have been here several timnes and have caught several cruise ships from the port in Amsterdam.
Today we end the morning having a coffee and watching the yclists and the Canal boats. We walk through the city center take photos and enjoy ourselves.
We aspired to ride a Canal boat , but they commence at 11.00 am and we need to beack at the ship by 2.30 pm for an early departure.
We love the City and the people and we have a great tie. This was added to our itinerary after the Russian ports were cancelled followoing the commencement of the Invasion of Ukraine by the Russians. We haven’t time to go the the Museums etc.
But we have visited the Van Gogh museum on earlier visits as well as several other Museums.
