Departure from Tuningi Safari Resort and Flight to Johannesburg with Federal Airlines and transfer by Blacklane to Hilton Sandton.
We decided not to complete the morning game drive and slept in until 7.00am . Then we rose and showered and completed packing as far as possible. Then to a superb breakfast and paid the Accounts outstanding and tipped our guide tracker Martin and left a generous tip for the general staff. Thanked the Manager’s Operations then went back and completed packing to be ready for departure at 10.30am.
We have had a wonderful time at this smaller but beautifully decorated resort which was exactly as diescribed by Go2Africa. The staff have been obliging, courteous and excellent hosts. The food has been outstanding. The South African wines complimented the food and have been enjoyable.
Our packing and other duties were completed by 10.00am aqnd we now had to wait for Marting to pick us up. Our two soft bage were collected and loaded on the Jeep .
Our trip to the airport was short over 10-15 minutes and we saw zebras, impalas, giraffes and elephants as well as the ubiquitous wildebeests. Martin’s dropped us off after the plane had landed ,.but before we had to chase zebras and warthogs off the runway.
It was the same aircraft as we travelled up on, but this return had a full load of 12 people and we made one other stop to collect the rest of the passengers.
It was a pleasant flight, we both feel very tired. But we have had a most enjoyable time in Madikwe and at this lodge.
The driver from Blacklane had notified me that she would be on time. We were in the arrivals lounge at 12.50pm with our luggage stored and this’d was transferred to a top of the line Mercedes SUV for trhe 35 minute trip into the Hilton Sandton. The trip is along expressways and freeeways, and we arrive at the hotel in good time. Weather is pleasant at 22C degrees with a threat of afternoon rainfall but that fails to materialise.
Check in is quick as Gold HH members, and we are handed the keys to Suite 220, which consists of a lounge, large bathroom and main bedroom with King Deluxe bed. All recently renovated and modified and first class in features and furniture..
Jeanette unpacks, whilst Ken collects our other Tauck Bag.
Then following completion of our other unpack, we go to the Executive Lounge on floor 6, for High Tea, which was very pleasant as we skipped lunch.
We both admit to being very tired, the early rises of 5.30am for the last 6 days have taken a toll.
We need to refresh and recharge prior to our next flight to Victoria Falls, one of the wonders of the World.
So tomorrow we have plans to do some shopping at Nelson Mandela square shoppoing centre ,then ensure all of our washing is clean , but most importantly to refresh and relax.
After some discussion we decide to skip an evening meal, and have a hot shower.. We retire for the night at 9.30pm.
Been a successful day and we look forward to our 3 night here.
