Drive from Savannah and Arrival in Hilton Head Island - Bluewater Resort and Marina.
It is a superb early afternoon to drive to Hilton Head Island. We had enjoyed a light luncheon at City Cafe , Savannah, then checked out and picked ther car up. It as an easy drive around the central city tourist area to exit Savannah and then drive the 35 minutes across the lowlands after entering the neighbouring State of South Carolina.
This was a short and relaxed drive with speed restrictions of 45-55 miles per hour and some pretty and scenic lowlands countryside. We came though the small township of Blufton and then got back on the usual freeway route across into Hilton Head Island using the causeway.
We remembered our travel to Bluewater although there has been further rapid condo developments across the Island.
Upon arrival at 2.15pm we were able to check in but were advised that our unit would be available within the next hour. As we completed our check in this changed and we were able to go to our villa/ unit 6424, being building 2 , 4th floor and Condo 2, which is a very comfortable 2 bed/ 2 bathroom and large lounge, separate laundry area with washer and drier and a very well equipped kitchen, lounge, dining area. We overlook the main pool and lazy river.
It takes us almost 40 minutes to unpack all that we require for the week and then return our cases etc to the second bedroom area. Ken sets up the electrical area and logs into Wifi. All works well. The resort is now completed with tennis court, basketball court, separate pier and wonderful bbq and fire pit area.
Ken takes a long walk around the resort. Enjoys the whole experience, the alligator and friend is still in the laggon , although not to be seen today. We then go to Publix and do some shopping. Ken sends an email to our chemist at Kerrie road, Glen Waverley seeking prescriptions for eye drops, which he left in the fridge at home. Hopefully that arrives tomorrow morning and we can then pick up the eye drops.
He then takes a variety of photographs.
After a drink we decide that following a late lunch , we need only our Doubletree cookie and an icecream. Ken watched the Rocket PGA tour from Detroit and Aussies Cam Davis (winner) and Minji Woo Lee (tied for 2nd do extremely well. Bedtime at 10.10pm after a successful day exiting Savannah, driving and checking in here.
The day had passed successfully getting us from Savannah to Hilton Head Island, then checking in doing some shopping at Publix Supermarket. The weather forecast has changed to reflect a strong change with high winds and thunderstorms. We stood on our balcony looking back over the pool and the Inter-coastal waterway and there were clouds building and as a consequence we didn’t get the amazing sunset. We enjoyed the thrip across to Hilton Head through the centre of Blufton.
It rained extremely heavily on Sunday evening and there were large puddles and water lying around when we woke this morning. We enjoyed a relaxed breakfast and late morning went to the Tanger Outlets to do some quick shopping. It all worked well.
This afternoon Ken will visit Hilton Head Country Club to book golf for tomorrow and Thursday. Hopefully this erratic weather will stabilise and make it an enjoyable day.
