We had expected the rainfall from the broader Queensland deluge to start to diminish and taper off, but we awoke to a very week area although it had reduced to intermittent showers over Wednesday evening.
Yesterday we stayed close to the Beachcomber International Resort, although Ken played 18 holes of golf with a couple from Rainbow Bay, at Coolangatta Tweed. The course was very wet, barely playable but there were still some 120 people out in the afternoon.
We played from 12.23pm and finishes at 3.48pm and I was glad to have the use of a cart.
Played okay with 91 strokes and left some out there. It is a stunning set up.
Following the return and a long hot shower, we had afternoon tea and then an early dinner of Parmigiana and Seafood Basket at the Surf Club on Wednesday evening. Really enjoyable
We thought we may have difficulty in parking and then getting to dinner, but found parking within 100 metres and it was only upon returning after dinner that we got caught in a heavy shower, which seemed to set in for the night. The overnight rainfall was 38mm here in Coolangatta.
The 4th tea is to the Right and then across to a green. wonderful wetlands with many birds.
The course was very wet and I would query how much wetter it would need to be before it is closed. The problem is that the ground is saturated and cannot handle any more rainfall.
However, the greens are excellent and run truly, the bunkers are pretty good with no pitched plugging in walls.
The teebox on the beautiful 18th Hole .
Played a good hole but a 6 on the par 5 probaqbly didn’t reflect my work. Deserved better but my putt rolled passed the hole.
That is my 3rd between the Bunkers , waiting for the group in front to FINISH out. There for 3 then a chip to 15 feet then 2 putts!!!
An enjoyable round of golf. It poured 10 minutes afterwards and I was in the car driving back to Coolangatta.
Then we talked and decided as commented above to visit the Surf Club for dinner.
It has been an enjoyable day despite the inclement weather.
Tomorrow we have a full clean and service of our Unit.
Thursday morning and Weather Improving, but a gusty wind.
We woke after Ken slept in until 8.10am, which is very unusual. Breakfast then a decision to get out and leave as they come to clean and service our condo. So we went for a drive up to Kirra Beach, where Ken walked 2 km along the foreshore.
Then returned to find everything clean and all items replenished..
Lunch of rolls and fruit.
A wet morning with more on the way.
Kiia Beach on a wet and windy day.
Kimmy the Bear at Kirra Beach.
