Golf at Coolangatta and Tweed Golf club and RACV Royal Pines Resort.
Having moved from The Beach House to the Beachcomber Resort, Coolangatta Ken has had to plan and create a new schedule of golf for this week.
He also needed to be conscious of the ANZAC Day services and celebrations of our fallen and the adjustments to bookings and availability.
Ken contemplated an additional 9 holes game but decided to play at Coolangatta on Monday and Thursday (ANZAC Day) and then rescheduled rebooked his game at RACV Royal Pines to Wednesday afternoon at 12.10pm with two others who are club members at Royal Pines , playing the Green Tees for the first 9 and then the Gold tees for the second 9.
The weather over this week has been quite changeable and the course at Coolangatta was very wet after almost. 2 inches of rain over Friday and Saturday and then showers on the Sunday morning before clearing on the Sunday. As a consequence, the course was too wet to allow carts on Sunday , Monday and Tuesday morning.
Ken walked the source on Monday afternoon having hired an MGI battery buggy. It was a good decision as the course was very wet.
He played with one other player named Bruce, who was a little older and played off 22. We had an enjoyable afternoon finishing at 2 hours and 10 minutes after hitting off at 1.44pm. Bruce has 22 Stableford points and Ken played well to have 19 points.
In some respects it was surprising to see the course open as there was a lot of surface water laying about.
On Tuesday we had a relaxing day of walking along the foreshore.
Wednesday came and the weather was significantly improved, no showers and Ken played
So with the changes to the schedules with Anzac Day , Ken rebooked RoyalPines for the Wednesday afternoon and Carts were available.
Had a terrific day , played well, the weather was first class and the breezes had subsided. The day was enjoyable and the two members were great company.
The Course had been cut and rolled after the wet weekend. It was just a pleasure to play.
The weather has now stabilised and is back to its usual blue skies.
The Golf on Thursday (Anzac Day) at Coolangatta was subject to a surcharge of $10.00 and it was fine. The course was very busy.
Played the West Course , which had dried out well. Ken’s golf was ok, but not as good as at Royal Pines.
Completed golf at 3.30pm, had a quick drink and returned to the Beachcomber at 4.30pm, showered and changed and after recent experiences needed to be at the Surf club by 5.30pm. We arrived at that time, the place was busy with many already seated for Dinner.
We enjoyed a delightful meal. Drove back to the Beachcomber and changed, watched football (AFL).
It has been a very enjoyable week .
