21st November 2016 Travel day to Palm Desert
/We depart Santa Fe after breakfast and we do feel a little sad saying goodbyes to Sandy and Karen who have been wonderful hosts. We drive the Interstare 25 from Santa Fe to Albuquerque drop off the car at Hertz then catch the shuttle to the terminal, check in and again benefits from pre TSA approval advancing through security in quick time. Our light due to depart at 12.25pm for the short flight is delayed by a numbers issue, but they eventually agree on 77 passengers and we depart 10 minutes late.
Good flight to Phoenix, Sky Harbour, then gave s lengthy wait from 1.55pm for our luggage to arrive at th carousel then a long queue fir the car rental shuttle and further delay at Dollar car rental.
We finally depart the airport car rental after 3.00pm and then run into a severe traffic jam as we get on to I 10 heading toward Los Angeles. We use the 2 person HOV lane andvthat helps but it remains a slow process and our drive to Palm Desert takes 4 hours 40 minutes even travelling in speed limit areas of 75 mile per hour and doing more like 85 mph in several places. The number of trucks continues to amaze us.
Jeanetre then drives the last 2 hours and 30 minutes, we arrive check in at Embarc at about 7.40pm.
Jeanette wants to shop for our basic groceries so we found that and buy chicken and salads for a late dinner.
The resort and our accommodation is just terrific.
A long hard day, we should have flown from Santa Fe to Palm Desert.
This is a superb part of the world in this time of the year. But it is very busy with Thanksgiving on Thursday.
