15th November, 2016 Superb Scottsdale AZ

We arrive last night after a 45 minute drive from Sky Harbour after picking up Rental from Dollar. Ken drove and once we were on the 101 Loop freeway the scenery and names came flooding back. 

Peter had to come to their gates after we telephoned advising we couldn't gain access to their gated community.  We soon found out after greeting Wendy that she had a knee replacement operation 2-3 weeks ago.  We sat and talked until 11.00pm (90 minutes after our arrival).  They live on 2 acres of desert land in a gated community of 64 residences.

Jeanette and I slept very well and then rose at 7.00am to find  Peter having coffee out by the pool on a perfect fall  morning. 

Ken and Peter walked for 25 minutes before breakfast then we talked in detail as to their forthcoming visit to Melbourne whilst on their Australian Oceania Cruise.  Subsequently, we discussed our schedule for the next several days.

Then after lunch we went out and drove some 25 minutes to the Desert Botanical Gardens and enjoyed a terrific 2 hours plus walking through the amazing desert vegetation.  We walked through the various loops and tracks all showing us the wonderful fauna. 

We returned to their home at 4.15pm  , to change and then visit the Fairmont Pinnacle Hotel here in the Pinnacle Mountains where we sat outside to see the superb sunset and the purple hue from the land.

Peter then drove home via a pharmacy, where he picked up medicine for Wendy.  We enjoyed a meal and sat and talked until almost 9.00am. 

It has been a lovely day with good friends in their stylish and comfortable home.  They are delightful hosts. 

Tomorrow brings a breakfast meeting with other friends doing the cruise and then Ken is golfing and Jeanette is joining Peter and Wendy. 

The weather has been 78 F and just perfect with not a cloud in the sky and we have a big full moon tonight.  Life is good!!!
