4th December Our arrival and first days at Hilton Hawaiian Village - Lagoon Tower Suite 1660.
/We departed from Sky Harbour Phoenix on Sunday 3rd December, 2017 following overnight at Double Tree Suites near the airport.
We had departed the Oceania Riviera following a terrific cruise and we were picked up at the terminal by Victor our travel and air fares guru. We didn’t have a photo so it was guess work and talking over our phones. It was good to meet him and discuss our forward plans.
He took us for a drive through Miami and then down A1A Collins street where we stopped for a drink and an offe4 of breakfast. We enjoyed his company and discussed a wide range of trave” issues. He then transported us to Fort Lauderdale International Airport, where we flew by American Airlines to Charlotte before transferring to a flight to Phoenix, AZ.
Both flights were on time and we enjoyed excellent se4vice in firs5 class on each.
Arrival in Phoenix was slightly late , we then got our luggage off the carousel and 3xited after having the concierge telephone Double Tree and arrange pick up by the shuttle.
Checkin occurred some 20 minutes later. We were in our suite by 7.15pm after a long travel date. Early to bed and with expectations of breakfast Sunday morning with Corey and Shawn, who we had met on our last cruise.
Morning came quickly after a good sleep for Ken and a restless night for Jeanette. We repacked our luggage and then went to the restaurant where we were excited to meet Shawn and Corey. Breakfast was enjoyable and we talked enthusiastically for the entire period where we discussed our current holiday, their plans as well as next year’s planned trip. We may well travel through Phoenix, where the weather is magical at this time of year. Also excellent for golf etc.
Following this we transferred via shuttle to Sky Harbour, checked in via the kerbside porter, were through security inside 20 minutes then had about 1 hour 20 minutes to wait before boarding.
This was an excellent flight with a first class meal served by a very attentive staff. We then slept for over 3 hoursand our 6 hours 30 minutes flight passed very quickly.
We arrived at 3.25m and exited the plane for quite a long walk to collect our luggage, where we were met by our Blacklane driver. He whisked us to the car park where a very comfortable Town Car was waiting. Thirty minutes later we arrived at the Grand Waikikian Lobby, where we checked in via the “elite”member check in areas. Our luggage was collected and was delivered to our suite 1660 some 10 minutes later.
This is a superb entrance to the property away from the central checkin. A short walk down the ramp to the Lagoon Tower foyer, where we caught the lift. We arrived at our suite 1660 ( 2 bedroom plus condo) and we were both delighted. It is a lovely corner suite. Recently refurnished with new comfortable sofa and curtains, overlooking the lagoon and out to the beach.
We both slept well.
The morning brought some clouds but a like cool breeze. We had breakfast inside and not on the balcony due to the breeze, Then did a load of washing and made our list for shopping later in the morning at Ala Moana shopping centre.
Ken also has arranged golf for Thursday and Friday. We also plan to hire a car and travel to the north of the island to see the large rolling waves.
We did walk to the shopping centre and purchased our food for 4-5 days. Then a taxi back to Hawaiian Village.
Following lunch a walk through the resort.
Then a siesta and swim . Dinner in tonight.
An excellent first day in perfect weather. Photos of the resort and our view together with the suite are attached
