We return to the Oberoi to join the rest of the group for lunch in the adjoining hotel named Trident Hotel in the Frangipani Restaurant. We arrive at 12.45pm. Scheduled but our tour group does not return until almost 2.00pm with the news that one of our group, Luther, has succumbed to the oppressive heat and humidity and taken a turn. We are all concerned, but subsequently hear that he has recovered well and will join thei group for our final cocktail party at 5.00pm.
Everyone arrives at5.00pm for our final cocktail party and we are each requested to present our favourite highlight. There are many deep and thoughtful comments. This has been a very good tour led by our highly skilled Tour Director Peter Pappas (ppappas@tauck.com)
Jeanette and I have enjoyed this brilliant tour staying in accommodation that is out of this world. We have made several new friends some of whom we expect will become long them life friends.
We wil leave India with a mix of feelings and observations. A friendly people, massive population issue, all seeking to do better but tied to the caste system. Economically robust developing with a keen highly educated population. Corruption and influence is ingrained. Something wonderful to show as far as history and the monuments. The excitement, the smells, the colours and the spices all are magical. The food has been a pleasant surprise. We have remained healthy throughout.
The decision to use Tauk was wise irrespective of the costs. Their administrative skills logistical management is just amazing. To top it off a great guide and pleasant tour group ensures that this will be a tour with memories we long cherish.
We have another day here before a late flight to Bangkok followed by a domestic flight to Phuket. There we will relax for 8 nights before we fly to Singapore for 2 days then home to Melbourne.
It has been a Wonderful experience. We can honesty say we have seen nothing like India including th good, the bad and the ugly
