2 March 2016 Drive from Kochi to Kumarakom

This was a relaxed morning with a later start and a 3 hour drive from Kochin to Kumarakom driving through the many seaside villages of this coastal area of coastal Kerala, and of course wherever we look we see spectacular palm trees swaying gently in the wind.  The temperature  remains hot 95 degrees F with humidity of 85 percent but no rain is forecast.

The beautiful Kumarakom Lake Resort is another superb resort, this is old fashioned resort with individual villas with dark teak interiors and all of the main reception centre an eating and relaxing areas are open.

our unit/ villa is number 124 and we have a pathway that takes up passed our swimming lagoon and to our private entranceway.  A beautiful bedroom and separate sitting area and an outside Latrene bathroom area which after you get used to it is very functional in this hot humid environment.  Clearly this is very much a quiet relaxing refresher after the rigorous first 12 days.

The group then meets pre dinner out on the lawns and overlooking the beautiful lake to watch the sunset and see the riceboats coming home for the evening.  We are then entertained for 45 minutes by authentic cultural Mohiniattam dancers who provide an insight into local Indian dancing cultures.  According to their Indian culture and mythology, Mohini was an enchantress who seduced people, but today this dance takes the history. And relates more around love and devotion to God.

We dine tonight on a sumptuous Indian meal in the Restaurant and we eventually turn in after a long  but enjoyable day. It is still 85 degrees at 10.30pm.
