18th-21st November, 2016 Visit to Santa Fe New Mexico and stay with Sandy and Karen

We depart Wendy and Peter's home after a terrific stay, and hopeful that Wendy continues to recover from her recent knee operation/ replacement. We drive to Star Harbour international Airport, where we drop the car off at the rental centre catch the shuttle to the terminal, check in and are through security inside 30 minutes using presTSA process.  A good result.

We board our American Eagle flight from Phoenix, Sky Harbour to Albuquerque, New Mexico for the short 47 minute flight. It is an excellent flight on a small American Eagle jet with 50 passengers.  We land early in Albuquerque and then catch the shuttle to the car rental site and pick up our Hertz Nissan Altima and then begin our road trip some 60 miles from Albuquerque to Santa Fe on what is an excellent freeway I25, but the speed limit is 75 miles per hour and most travel at 85 miles an hour.  Just stunning.  We drive to Sant Fe and the GPS delivers us after one or two false starts to the front entrance / driveway of Karen and Sandy. There is much excitement and we are delighted to see one another.

They live in a gated community with blocks of 2.5 to 5 acres in an arid semi desert area about 15 minutes from downtown Santa Fe.

We enter their home and you can only describe this as a superb south western desert home with a stunning great room beautifully decorated in the colours of the desert.

We then bring our luggage in and unpack a little then talk from 7.15pm to approximately 8.00pm then have a superb dinner. Both are superb cooks as we will notice over the following 3 days.  Following dinner we revert to the lounge and then plan our next couple of days.

They were a little concerned as to our delayed arrival because they were under the impression that we were arriving at about 4.00pm rather than the late cor ect the me of about 7.00pm. A terrific day with travel plans working well.  The Hertz vehicle is comfortable and clean unlike our prior experience with Dollar.
