27th October, 2016. spectacular Bar Harbour, Maine

We had enjoyed yesterday and we were again travelling with the same group on a tour organised by Shawn Tennant.

We were picked up early for an extensive tour of the city of Bar Harbour, then a tour of Acadia National Park.  This is known as one of the most scenic drives on the US A East Coast and we had a perfect day on which to see the colours and beauty.  Acadia National Park is the second most visited park in the entire USA.  We travelled through Bar Harbour, which in itself is a quaint town with a variety of Mansions built in early 20th centuries.

We arrived at Acadia National Park and then travelled the 27 mile loop taking him soectacular coastal, mountain and Forrest views.

Next we travelled along the coast taking hinSand beach, SchoonersHead Overlook, and the High Seas Estate a beautiful mansion built by a gentleman whose wife perished on the Titanic. We stopped at Thunder Hole for the swell of the sea to make thunderous nice sand roars.  We travelled on to Otter Cliffs, and took in the beauty of the Gulf of Maine, and the many other off-shore islands.  We really appreciate the influence and benevolence of John D Rockefeller to this total area, but particularly through his donations of land.  We also saw the remains of the exclusive Carriage Trails built for the sole use of the Rockefellers and other establishment families.

Our tour then took us up the winding mountain road of Cadillac Mountain the highest point on the North East seaboard with spectacular panoramic views.

we enjoyed perfect weather and this day has been a real tour/ cruise highlight.

We are deposited back at Regatta at 2.20pm and we sail in about 2 hours and this has just been an amazing day.
