We are due to leave Coolangatta on Friday morning after 2 weeks at the Beachcomber International resort. So Thursday afternoon Ken continued with his lengthy daily walks, then returned home and showered and we went to dinner at the Surf club. This has been a thoroughly enjoyable fortnight, notwithstanding that the weather has been inclement upon a regular basis and for Ken the golf courses have been exceptionally wet.

Our accommodation has been excellent in a prime location. We have enjoyed good food and wine whether eating in or out at local venues.

So the time has come to pack and then move back to the Gold Coast ( about a 50 minute drive) and enjoy our time back in the centre of this busy and growing tourist metropolis.

Here are several photos of the Surf club and surrounds from last night. Then photos today following arrival at Sovereign Hotel, Gold Coast.

A Schooner of Peroni Beer to celebrate our time in Coolangatta, Qld. With a Superb Steak…Just Wonderful.

We checked out at 10.10AM then went to the Shopping Centre and had a coffee. We then decided at 11.00 to move on and make our way toward the Gold Coast. WE had travelled a short distance when we received a message advising that our room was prepared aqnd available for an early check in.

Our drive from Coolangatta to the Gold Coast along the Pacific Highway was slow and we seemed to get stopped at every red traffic light.

Finally at about 12.20pm we arrived at Sovereign Hotel and checked in to our one bedroom unit with a lounge and kitchen . It is comfortable , well furnished and we are in North Tower room 612.

We unpacked our gear, then had lunch which Jeanette had prepared thinking we would be eating it in a park beside the beaches somewhere along the way.

Following lunch, we drove to Pacific Fair Shopping Centre, visited Coles Supermarket and purchase our supplies for most of the week. It is a large modern Shopping complex, the largest in this part of Queensland. We aim to eat in for 4 nights and out at some of the local restaurants on 3 night.

Ken then went to the garage underneath to clean his gold clubs. He remains hopeful that he will get a game or two at Royal Pines over the coming days. That is a drive of about 20 minutes from where we are staying. Tomorrow night we will stay in and watch the Federal Election coverage. There is much speculation as to the possibility of a change although our main stream media is barracking hard in supporting the incumbents. We are traditionally conservative in approach and outlook but als sense that there is a need for change in 2022. We will see.

Our Bedroom and king size bed and bathroom. Very comfortable.
