A Terrific Excursion Through Oxford and its Colleges.

We left our place and walked 10 minutes through the Westgate Shopping Centre to meet our guide further down the main street.

We met at 10.15 am and then enjoyed 2 hours of passionate explanation as to the history, development, the architecture of the Oxford University Colleges.

This was fascinating, our guide was a retired librarian and we were his only customers this morning.

We walked slowly and we were especially grateful because Jeanette is still struggling with osteoarthritis in her knee. We particularly appreciated his willingness to stop and answer our queries and elaborate on other matters.

He was delighted that Ken had attended University College some 30 years ago and said he would still see many of the same buildings notwithstanding that there has also been major expansion and redevelopments.

This very much personifies our decision to return to Oxford as a base for several days prior to going to London.

It has worked well, we have enjoyed the history, the beautiful architecture, and the friendly people.

There are many first-year students arriving for their first semester.

We walk for almost the entire 3 hours, but it is well placed and we enjoy this thoroughly.
